Position Overview: Sustainable Land Stewardship Coordinator

The Sustainable Land Stewardship Coordinator will play a critical role in the design and implementation of initiatives focused on responsible land and resource management within our service region. This position is integral to supporting rural community resiliency, promoting sustainable practices, and ensuring that land use contributes positively to the health and well-being of the population we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee projects aimed at sustainable resource management and conservation within Monongahela Valley and surrounding areas.
  • Collaborate closely with local stakeholders, including farmers, landowners, community organizations, and governmental agencies to promote practices that enhance soil health, water quality, and biodiversity.
  • Conduct field assessments and data collection to monitor land conditions and the impact of stewardship initiatives.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and educational materials to communicate progress and best practices to the community and funding partners.
  • Organize and lead workshops and training sessions designed to educate landholders and community members on sustainable practices and their benefits.
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities or funding streams to support ongoing and new projects.
  • Work alongside healthcare and community service teams to integrate environmental health considerations into broader community health strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Conservation, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in land management or stewardship projects, especially in rural or varied landscapes.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable practices, ecological principles, and environmental regulations relevant to West Virginia.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively across disciplines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, geographic information systems (GIS), or relevant software tools is highly desired.
