We are currently seeking passionate individuals to join our team at Connecticut Humane Society in a role that focuses on the well-being and care of animals. As an Animal Welfare Specialist, your responsibilities will involve direct interaction with animals, ensuring their comfort, health, and safety within our shelter environment. This position goes beyond traditional animal caretaking and encompasses a wide range of duties such as behavioral evaluations, enrichment activities, and adoption counseling.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide daily care for animals including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health
Assess behavioral needs of animals and develop enrichment strategies
Conduct adoption interviews and provide guidance to potential adopters
Assist in medical treatments and procedures under veterinarian supervision
Collaborate with the team to ensure a positive and enriching environment for all animals

Requirements:

Passion for animal welfare and empathy towards animals in shelter environments
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team
Ability to handle animals with care and compassion, following established protocols
Experience in animal care, veterinary medicine, or a related field is preferred
Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
