Position Opportunity: Wellness & Performance Support Specialist
We are currently seeking a dedicated and culturally attuned Wellness & Performance Support Specialist to join our team. This unique role bridges the gap between artistic performance and physical vitality, ensuring dancers and staff maintain their well-being and resilience through personalized care strategies.
About the Role
The Wellness & Performance Support Specialist will play a pivotal role in promoting holistic physical and mental support tailored to the demanding and dynamic environment of a premier ballet company. The individual will work closely with dancers, instructors, and administrative staff, contributing to an integrative approach that enhances performance quality through optimal health and injury prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored wellness assessments and individualized performance support plans that address musculoskeletal health, recovery, and endurance needs specific to dance professionals.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including artistic directors, dance therapists, physical conditioning coaches, and external healthcare consultants to deliver cohesive support.
- Implement evidence-based modalities for injury prevention, physical therapy exercises, and nutrition advice, all adapted to the cultural and individual needs of team members.
- Design and facilitate workshops and seminars focusing on preventative wellness, mental resilience, and self-care practices to nurture a proactive health culture.
- Employ culturally responsive communication strategies to ensure inclusiveness and accessibility in wellness initiatives for a diverse workforce.
- Maintain accurate documentation of individual wellness progress and contribute to continuous improvement of support protocols.
- Stay current with advances in performance science, holistic health approaches, and emerging best practices in supporting physically demanding professions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in kinesiology, physical therapy, exercise science, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience supporting performance artists or athletes with strong knowledge of movement mechanics, injury prevention, and recovery strategies.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and experience working in diverse and inclusive environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively and sensitively across multicultural teams.
- Certification in relevant modalities (e.g., manual therapy, yoga instruction, nutrition coaching) is highly desirable.
- Ability to adapt wellness techniques to meet a variety of cultural practices and physical needs.
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to confidentiality and ethical care.
