Position Overview

As a Sustainable Urban Development Specialist, you will be at the forefront of aligning urban development projects with sustainable land management, resource conservation, and natural terrain assessment. Your expertise will inform key decisions that minimize environmental impact while maximizing liveability and resilience within HDB’s extensive housing estates.

Key Responsibilities

Land and Resource Assessment: Conduct comprehensive analysis of soil, groundwater, and geological conditions to support sustainable building practices and infrastructure design.
Risk and Impact Evaluation: Evaluate potential risks related to land stability, erosion, and flooding, providing actionable recommendations to safeguard developments.
Green Infrastructure Integration: Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and engineers to embed natural elements and eco-friendly solutions into housing designs.
Conduct Field Surveys: Lead field investigations and data collection to monitor ground conditions and track changes arising from development activities.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects adhere to national standards and policies related to land use, water management, and sustainable development.
Research & Innovation: Stay abreast of advancements in sustainable urban development methodologies and emerging technologies to continuously improve practices at HDB.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with government agencies, environmental experts, and community groups to promote awareness and incorporate diverse perspectives into project planning.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Earth Sciences, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related disciplines with strong emphasis on natural systems.
Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years in roles involving soil analysis, groundwater evaluation, land use planning, or sustainable urban development projects.
Technical Competencies:
- Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing tools.
- Ability to interpret geotechnical and hydrological data.
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessment frameworks.
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving aptitude to assess complex land and resource issues within urban settings.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to multidisciplinary teams.
Teamwork and Leadership: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively while managing projects and mentoring junior staff.
